Christopher A. Coughlin

Christopher A. Coughlin serves as executive vice president and is an officer of The Timken Company. In 2025 Coughlin announced his planned retirement and he continues to serve in an advisory role.

An experienced Timken executive, Coughlin helped diversify the company’s business through organic growth initiatives, product innovation and strategic M&A.

Most recently, Coughlin served as executive vice president and president, Industrial Motion. In that role, he was responsible for building on Timken’s engineered bearing leadership by continuing to diversify and grow adjacent Industrial Motion offerings to serve customers’ future needs.

Before that, Coughlin was executive vice president, group president, leading Timken’s global engineered bearings business.

Coughlin joined the company in 1984 and held positions of increasing responsibility across various business roles.

Coughlin earned a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a master’s degree in business administration from Case Western Reserve University.
